WaterCycle and WatSim have been used extensively to model water quality through distribution systems in buildings, through municipal water systems, and in process and mining applications.

On the simplest level, they are used to model the impact of temperature changes in a system on scale and corrosion. WatSim has been used to model and minimize copper solubility. WaterCycle has been used to model a water as it passes through complicated industrial processes.

The software can be used effectively to model changes in water quality as operating parameters change, and to predict the impact of chemical addition and forced parameter changes on quality.
