Concrete 'corrosion' is minimized in high tds cooling towers by adjustment of water chemistry to a positive calcium carbonate scale potential, as indicated by a simple index such as the Langerlier Saturation Index, or a more rigorous index such as the ion association model calcite saturation index. The ion association method is preferred in high tds waters.
The same principles should apply to swimming pool chemistry.
