Using a French Creek program to generate a report,
sales pitch, or system evaluation starts with simply entering your water
chemistry and system parameters into each programs input table.
Below we are inputting a Once Through water chemistry report
for cooling water.
Note: WaterCycle also allows a
Cooling Tower mode for multiple cycles.
Verify analytical units (e.g. Ca as Ca, Ca as CaCO3, etc.)
Click on the Units button to open the Analytical Units Menu.
Also enter Once Through System Specifications...
or Cooling Tower Specifications.
Once your French Creek program generates your "What if" analysis, you have pinpointed your trouble areas and can now find an optimal treatment.
All premium French Creek editions (Salesman/Field Engineer editions and higher) come with the ability to apply a treatment from a list of all common generic and proprietary inhibitors, as well as products you or your company has blended using a Product Formulator/Manager edition (See how French Creek formulates products in the following section, "Formulate Product."
Because a water treater generally does not a single inhibitor, we will use a product we formulated named FC-Utility (consisting of 10% HEDP, 5% PAA, and 2.5% AA-AMPS).
In the table below French Creek displays the predicted characteristics of our newly treated water, as well as a recommended optimum dosage.
As well as generating various other tables displaying your treated water, the Salesman/Field Engineer edition allows you to easily switch between untreated and treated graphs.
The next few examples below show a new system, however this time using Cooling Tower mode with recirculating water.
Below is an untreated water. As you can see, scale is likely to form immediately in this system, as noted in the untreated table below.

In the next example we will pull in a straight HEDP
treatment. As you can see HEDP will keep the water
safe from scale for 4.5 cycles.

French Creek allows you test multiple treatments in a matter of seconds, using out treatment pull down menu. The third example shows our same water treated this time with PBTC. As you can see, PBTC is capable of scale control for an extra cycle.

Before generating a French Creek "What if Analysis," enter further scenario information as French Creek prepares to model your system.
WaterCycle is now ready to generate your "What
if" model. First we will model a once through system.
Below are saturation levels for each scale species at different
temperatures.
Read about the use of saturation levels in our online library.
Note in the table generated below, you have the option of changing
the range of the system's parameters to instantly see further
success/failure points.
Though the many tables generated are very
helpful, lets take a look at a 3D graph to get a visual feel of
where we run into problems. Please note you can easily switch to
another graph, change properties or range in seconds from the programs toolbar.

Blue: Safe Operating
Range
Green: Mild problem
potential if conditions change slightly
Yellow: Check
measurements, trouble is near
Magenta: Problem likely, take corrective action
Red: Problem area, treatment or other remedial action required.
All graph's are report quality and can be easily copy/pasted into any word processing or presentation program; an excellent tool for visualizing operating ranges, as well as explaining treatment needs to non-technical management and staff.

any French Creek program. Using the navigation menu
on the left, please browse through these simple, yet very powerful and affective features
available in different French Creek programs.
Though outlined here using the
WaterCycle Rx Laboratory Edition
(cooling water), these steps can be applied to any program whether
hyd-RO-dose (reverse osmosis),
DownHole SAT (oilfield brine), or
WatSIM (municipal).
Formulating and testing your own products in a lab can be time consuming and expensive. Why not computer simulate the entire process and even test it on your most troublesome operating ranges?
Cut down on excessive lab/development time with a Product Formulator edition. Easily input up to 28 inhibitors and ratios (this number limited in some programs), using our long list of generic and proprietary inhibitors, or even inhibitor models of your own (see Develop Models).
Below we are inputting the inhibitors and ratios for the product used in the previous section, "FC-Utility. For FC-Utility we will create a product consisting of 10% HEDP, 5% PAA, and 2.5% AA-AMPS.
First fill in a brief description and name your product. Then choose which inhibitors you would like to include, then select the ratio at which it is used.
Once saved, your product is now available for use in modeling. Saved product files can be changed to optimize or reformulate for cost performance.
Saved product files can be distributed to customers or within your company to anyone with a salesman edition.
Note: product files can be password protected to protect your proprietary formula.
If your repertoire of treatments and inhibitors is proprietary and not included in French Creek's database, Laboratory editions are available to translate your lab or product data into usable product files.
Select your property modeled.
Choose your variables. (Saturation level, common indices, pH, temperature, time, calcium, .etc)
Select transform for each variable.
Enter water chemistry for each data point (minimum of 5).
French Creek can then calculate a usable, accurate model for your treatments.
